General

What is a Registered Investment Adviser?
  • A regulated source of investment advice separate from any brokerage house.
How do I open an account with Teewinot?
  • Client and Teewinot sign an Investment Advisory Agreement, which assigns us the discretion to manage their account.
  • Client opens a custodial account -- in their own name -- at our preferred firm,
    Interactive Brokers, LLC.
  • Clients may fund their account by transferring assets from an existing investment account, a bank, or any other source.
  • Once funded, Client's new account begins to participate in new trades & investments that we make for all Clients.
What's the difference between Financial Planners, Investment Advisors and Asset Managers?
  • "Planners" and "Advisors" typically provide clients with holistic asset allocation advice -- then outsource the actual investment decision making to external professionals like mutual funds.
  • Asset Managers like Teewinot are more market-focused, usually managing just a portion of an any individual client's total portfolio. They can also manage mutual funds and private hedge funds.

Absolute Return Strategy

How is an Absolute Return Account like a Hedge Fund?

  • We use strategies intended not to be highly correlated with traditional stock and bond market investments.
  • Our fees are performance-based, incenting us to produce solid returns for our clients.

How is the Absolute Return Account
different than a Hedge Fund?

  • You own the actual account -- titled in your name -- not just shares of a fund or partnership.
  • Transparency: You can see all account activity.
  • No lockup period -- you can withdraw or deposit funds at any time.

Are there any restrictions on investing in a hedge fund or in a ManyPeaks Account?

  • Because Teewinot is compensated by performance fees (a percentage of profits), our clients are legally required to meet Accredited Investor qualifications.
