Deductibility of Our Fees

Fees paid to any investment manager are theoretically tax deductible, but many people are confused about the issue.

We do not dispense specific advice, but this is our general understanding:

  • Investment management fees can be itemized on Schedule A as miscellaneous deductions.
  • Only fees paid from taxable accounts can be listed -- not IRA accounts..
  • Taxpayers incurring AMT do not get the deduction.
  • There is a ">2% of income" rule.

Seek guidance from your tax advisor for further information.
